Johnnie Cornelius Washington affectionately known as "John" made his entrance into the world on November the 28, 1931 to the late Timothy Washington, Sr. and Rachel (Girtman) Washington, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
At an early age, John moves to New York where he attended public schools. He also attended the Brotherhood School and later on continued his education at college. John enlisted in the United States Army' on March 22, 1947. After five years of serving his country, John was honorably discharge on March 21, 1952. He later moved to New Jersey where he met and married Loretta Scott in December of 1980. John worked and retired from Princeton University after many years of service.
John departed this life on May 16,2023, in Trenton, NJ. His spirit, sense of humor and love will forever be remembered by all who cared and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Loretta Washington; his brothers Timothy Jr., Daniel, and David; two sisters, Elvira and Jeanette; and three stepchildren, Tyrone, Terry, and Myrtle.
John leaves to mourn and cherish his memories four step-children: Brenda, Evelyn, Alfonso, and Kim George who was his primary caregiver; his special caregivers, Michael George and Mr. Ruben Johnnie; his sister, Dorothy Omega; additional caregiver, Taheerah Carr; and a host 'Of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618 . Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
