John Willis Counts Jr. was born on September 16 , 1944 to John Willis Counts Sr. and Ossie Moreland Counts in Princeton , NJ.
John recognized his calling to help others at the early age of 16. While Pursuing his medical degree at the prestigious Tuskegee University, He was led to enilst into the United States Army where he faithfully served his co-untry until he was honorably discharged in 1968.
He then continued his his passion by remaining close as a veterinarian assistant at Alburn University until both of his parents fell ill, forcing him to move back home as a full-time caregiver to his mother and father.
John was gifted with a loving heart, and anyone that was not on his good side was certainly made aware of it. Although he was often times found by himself, he was a non-discriminant jokester by nature. He was the catalyst for laughter in every room he entered. He was admired by most and respected by all.
John Peacefully passed away in his sleep on April 3 , 2025 of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his mother Ossie, his father John Sr., six uncles; Harold A. Counts, George H. Counts, Melvin Moreland, Thomas Moreland, and James Moreland, four aunts; Eunice Moreland, Daisy Moreland, Mary Moreland and Vivian Moreland.
He left behind his brother Warren Counts Sr., 4 nephews; Warren Je. Clinton X, StephenJ and Christopher W. Counts, one niece; Deanna A. Counts and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He will be dearly missed!
Funeral service will 11am Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
