Karen Champion Obituary

Karen Ann Champion was born on October 19, 1952 to Herbert and Annie Nelson, in Detroit, Michigan and departed this life on May 12, 2022 in Trenton, NJ. Although her death was unexpected to us, God Knew the plan and was ready to ‘Set Off’ the real party, so wanted her Home.
 
Karen was educated in the Detroit Public School System, graduating from Northwestern High School and then attending Mercer County’s Vocational School completing the LPN program. For 30 years she worked at Helene Fuld Hospital where her career began and later retired from Greenwood Nursing Home after a number of years.
 
Karen was a member of Greater Mt. Zion AME Church and among her many special attributes, if you knew Karen, you could always count on good conversation and good food. She made everyone feel special, loved her family and especially loved traveling, volunteering and shopping.
 
Karen was predeceased in death by her parents, husband, Woodrow Champion, siblings Tanyia Dove and Laura Coles and son in law Craig Graves.
 
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Sheilonda and Alonzo, grandchildren Romone (Shamiese), Craig (CJ), Alonzo IV, Janaya, Lakendra (Charlie), Amir, Tempestt, Hadiyyah, & Muta; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings Pamela (Lawrence), Julianna (Richard), Thomas (Yvette); life-long friends Cynthia, Franklin, Janice, Nadine and Ethel and a host of family and friends who will the stories, laughter, her smile and company.
