Journey Through the Life of Katrina Rence Parkman Spence

Katrina Renee Parkman Spence was born to the union of Charles and Pearlie Trene (Griffith) Parkman on July 5, 1968, in Trenton, NJ. She transitioned from this life to be with her Lord Savior, Jesus Christ on December 21, 2025. at the age of 57.

Katrina was raised in Hamilton Township, New Jersey and educated in the Hamilton Twp. school system. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School West class of 1986 where she excelled in academics and " social networking”. Katrina was well known for her great sense of humor, being full of laughter, having a quick tongue and a witty comeback, engaging in long talks, and always down with the shenanigans. Affectionately called "Smurfette", Katrina embodied every sense of the name Her style and bold character were bigger than she was. enabling her to fit in every space she entered She was a sensitive soul, with a kind heart and an endless capacity for empathy. Katrina was a member of the freshman field hockey team, was a JV and Varsity cheerleader, she was active in Future Business Leaders of America and part of the prom court. Katrina attended Hampton University before receiving her associate's degree from Mercer County Community College, followed by a bachelor's degree in business administration from Temple University in 1991. Throughout her childhood into adulthood, Katrina loved God, and made sure to attend church for fellowship, worship, and hearing of the word.

Katrina grew up attending Trenton Deliverance Center in Trenton, NJ under the leadership of Apostle Perkins Broach Sr.; this is where she learned to trust God She understood who God was, even as young as 4 years old and she wanted to be saved, While in college she attended Deliverance Evangelistic Church in North Philadelphia where Reverand Benjamin Smith Sr. preached the word of God that reinforced her moral compass and began to strengthen her spiritual walk. After college, Katrina became a member of Nothing But The Word Deliverance Church in Florence, NJ, where Apostle Patricia A. Phillips taught the word of God, supplying the spiritual meat Katrina yearned Katrina was an active member of the NBTW choir, the Youth & Young Adult ministry, the Women's ministry, and a part of the Missions team that traveled nationally and internationally to bring the gospel of Jesus to the world. Katrina was not only a role model for young women in the church, but she was also a trusted friend to many. Katrina "was serious about what God was saying in His word": she began to study fervently and became a licensed Minister under Apostle Phillips While working ministry, Katrina was an intelligent woman about her business. An articulate, no-nonsense professional that was kind. She still loved to laugh, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always loved to look good. "Watching Katrina's journey of singleness to becoming a wife she was honorable."

Katrina and Derek Spence were united in matrimony on July 7, 2001. Katrina lovingly blended with a family of three, that grew into a family of six with the birth of daughters Faith and Hope. Katrina was full of life and love. She truly enjoyed fine dining and traveling whether abroad or domestically. As a keen shopper, Katrina liked a good deal but only the best quality would do, In 2009, the Spence family relocated to Holly Springs, NC and Katrina looked for a church home where their family would be spiritually fed. Katrina began attending Victory Temple Ministries where Pastor Djuan Rich Sr. preached the word and Katrina became active in the ministry. She had a continuous praise in her heart and loved to worship God. Katrina enjoyed group game nights, watching football, and lazy afternoons after cooking a good meal. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, and she adored being a mother to her children. Upon her return to Hamilton, NJ, Katrina became a faithful member of Mt. Nebo Glorious Tabernacle Church in Trenton, NJ under the leadership of Apostles Preston and Martha Scott Katrina operated as a minister of the gospel and unspoken member of the praise team. Katrina loved to worship the Lord and would press her way to service as her health deteriorate; there was a praise on the inside, and she BELIEVED GOD, Katrina wanted to be in the sanctuary; she was a Bonafide worshiper of Jesus. No matter the report of man, friend, or foe, Katrina believed only in the report of the Lord. Katrina was predeceased by her Parents the late Charles and Pearlie Irene (Griffith) Parkman, her Paternal Grandparents Robert and Claudia (Jackson) Parkman Sr., Maternal Grandparents Olten Timothy and Sarah Lee (Hall) Griffith., and Godparents Robert and Maude Wilson Sr

Katrina is survived by her Daughters Faith, Hope, and Katrina M. Spence; Son Kyle Spence and their father Derek Spence; Grandchildren Ava, Sophia, Raymond Jr., and Carmello; Siblings Yolanda Bethea (James) of Ewing, NJ, Keith Parkman (Tresa) of San Diego, CA, and Tamika Parkman of Hamilton, NJ; Nieces and Nephews, Tara Parkman and Elijah Parkman-Williams of Ewing, NJ Charles and Keisha Parkman of San Diego, CA, Cassandra and Keith Parkman 1l of Los Angeles CA, Evelyn Hairston of Trenton, NJ; Great Neice and Nephews Princess Lane of Towson, MD Diego Cesar of Princeton, NJ, and Azir Hairston of Trenton, N.J; Godbrothers Robert Jr., Michael, and Todd Wilson; Godchildren Chanelle Seay, Brittney Harris, Alayna Thompson, Diego Cesar, and Caleb Frederick; Aunts Corrine Brewer, Betty Stockton, Marie Gore, Doris Burrus, and Gloris Griffith all of Hamilton Twp., NJ; Mother-in-law Patti Spence of Sicklerville, NJ; Special Cousin: Dana Frederick, Angela Sweeney, Yoshia Burney, and Floyd Tucker Jr.; Specia Friends Stephanie Alexander, Teresa Kidd, Rasheida Phillips, Yvonne Wallace, and Jennifer Broach; as well as a host of cousins in the Parkman. Griffith, Reed families, the Spence family, and friends.

 

Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, January 2, 2026 at Princeton Deliverance Center, 301 Southard St., Trenton, NJ 08609. Calling hours will be 10am until time of service. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Trenton, NJ.
