Khalil Griffin-Gibbs

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Khalil DaWayne Griffin-Gibbs, age 25 most beloved son, family member, friend, and counselor passed away suddenly on February 22, 2021.

Those who knew Khalil, even just a little, lost a shinning light in their lives. Although he was only 25, Khalil affected so many people in his lifetime. He was a loving son and best friend to his father and his mother’s “Heart and Soul”.

Khalil will be missed everyday by his mother Cherita Griffin-Owens, his father Shawn Owens, his paternal grandparents Willie Owens and Gwendolyn McLean, his maternal grandmother Vanessa Akinyanju, loving aunts, April Madison (Carnell), Erica Jones (Phil), Kim Akinyanju, Keisha Owens Coleman (Velt), Tashay Murray, and Lisa Murray-Hamilton (Corey) his uncles William Lewis, Brian Akinyanju (Behnaz), Jermaine Evans (Kim), cousins, and many many great friends.

Khalil was born November 2, 1995 in Virginia Beach. He was raised in West Windsor.  He was educated in the West Windsor/Plainsboro School System. Upon graduating he continued his education at Mercer County Community College majoring in Business Administration.

He worked at Crossroads Kerry House as a Counselor, where he was committed to his work.

He was a member of Change Church, in Ewing NJ.

We know Khalil is now with his maternal grandfather William Lewis, his siblings Kristian, Kayden, and Khloe Owens and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven.

Services will be 1pm Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Ministerios Fraternidad Cristiana, 715 Bellevue Ave. Trenton, NJ 08618.  Calling hours will be 12pm until the time of services.  Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
