Kimberly Garrett-Saunders

THE OBITUARY Or KIMBERLY

Kimberly Mary Garrett-Saunders was born on October 4, 1976, in Newark, NJ to Deborah Garrett and the late Stanley Garrett. She was educated in the Newark School System and graduated from Westside High School.

After graduating high school, Kimberly joined the United States Army and later was honorably discharged. Kimberly decided to continue her educated and enrolled in Rutgers University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. She also when to Farleigh Dickerson University where she obtained another master’s degree in administrative science. Recently, she was attending Wake Tech for accounting and finance.

Kimberly was always a hard worker. She worked at several jobs throughout her career such as: NJ Department of Corrections, Juvenile Justice as an officer, a parole officer, and lastly North Carolina Department of Revenue where she was currently employed.

Kimberly enjoyed painting, and most recently found enjoyment in cooking. In her early years, she enjoyed being a cheerleader in middle school and high school. Kimberly spent the last seven years of her life living her life in Charlotte, NC with her family. It was on March 20, 2023, when Kimberly departed this earthly life for eternal rest at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte, NC. Her life has truly been full, and she will be remembered by all who knew and loved her dearly. 

In addition to her father, Kimberly was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, James and Mary Bond.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband, James Saunders; her son, Michael William Fedrick III; two stepsons, Daquan (Brielle) Saunders and Naquan Saunders; her mother, Deborah Garrett; two sisters, Kelly and Karen Garrett; a nephew, Zakir Smith; a niece, Na-Asia Wright; her godmother, Nita Pullen; her godbrother, Brian Pullen; and a host of other relative sand friends.

Funeral service will be 12pm Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Ministerios Fraternidad Cristiana, 715 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be private.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
