Kiyana Marie Williams, 54, transitioned at Capital Health Hopewell on April 6, 2026. Born in Boston, Massachusetts at Beth Israel Hospital on May 1, 1971. Kiyana grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She attended Noble and Greenough private school on a full academic scholarship and later transferred to Cambridge Ringe and Latin high school. Kiyana matriculated to Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and later upon moving to New Jersey earned her Associate Degree in Communications from Mercer County community college.
A longtime resident of Mercer County for 35 years, She worked in Quality Control/Assurance, and she also served as a substitute teacher in Ewing public schools, where she impacted many lives with her intelligence, warmth, and encouragement.
Kiyana, a woman defined by her love for family, known for loving deeply and wholeheartedly, always showing up for those she cared about. She carried a spirit that was joyful, kind, upbeat, and positive. She had a special gift for listening and offering thoughtful advice, making others feel seen, heard, and supported. Her words of encouragement—often telling her children, “Keep doing your thing, you’re on your way!!”—will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Kiyana was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose love and presence touched everyone who knew her.
She found joy in music, sports, long walks, beach outings especially in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and most importantly, spending quality time with her family. Kiyana was a member of Grant Chapel AME Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Mary Lang Crumlin, Irving Crumlin Sr., Murray Kempton, and Mina Kempton; Major Ralph Turner (a Tuskegee Airman), her in-laws, Robert Williams and Doris Williams; her aunt, Sally Kempton; and her uncle, Irving Crumlin Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Walter Andrew Williams; her children, Jason James, Jonah Robert, and David Jordan Williams; her mother, Dr. Patricia C. Kempton; her father, Arthur Kempton; her sister, Elizabeth Kempton-Russell (Brandon Russell); her Uncle David Kempton; her Uncle Donald Crumlin, cousins Ethan, Alex, Eric and Mary Alicia Crumlin; her brothers-in-law, Patrick Williams (Sabrina) and Corey Williams (Tennille); her nieces, Cyan, Jaylah, Rachel, and Seymone; her nephew, Tyler; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Kiyana’s love, strength, and light will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, April 16, 2026 at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, 1130 Lower Ferry Rd., Ewing, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be private.
