L. Wilhelmina Turner

L. Wilhelmina Turner departed this life on August 8, 2025. She was born on December 24, 1934, in Bordentown, NJ to the late William S. Jr. and Mamie Harvey Bragg.

Wilhelmina was educated in the Bordentown, NJ school system. She was a graduate of the William MacFarland High School of Bordentown, NJ and Rider College School of Business. She was employed by the Jewish Federation of Greater Trenton, Mercer and Buck Counties, as Office Manager.

Wilhelmina was a faithful member of St. John’s Baptist Church of Ewing, NJ until her declining health prevented her from attending. She was a member of the Trustee Aides. She also served as Church Clerk, Treasurer of the Transportation Committee and member of the church Flower Club as well as many other church organizations.

Wilhelmina was involved in her community. She was a member of the Ewing Community Club which was adjunct to the Committee for a Better Ewing, during a time of unrest in the community. She was an active member of the Ewing Township Patriotic Committee, and the Ewing Park/Brae Burn Civic Association for many years.

Wilhelmina was initiated in Zipporah Chapter No. 11 Order of Eastern Star in 1960. She held various stations in the Chapter and served as Worthy Matron for two years (1967-1969) and Treasurer for six years. In the Fifth District, she served as Dean of its School of Instructions and Acting District Deputy Grand Matron. In Oziel Grand Chapter, she held the office of Fifth District Chairman of the Youth Felicitares and a sponsor of the Chapter’s unit. She also served as a member of the Grand Queens Committee and Grand Special Project Committee, Co-Chairman of the Grand Historical Committee and Co-Chairman of the Grand Hospitality Committee. She was also a member of the Lady Orchid Assembly #44 of the Golden Circle and Khufu Court #118 Daughter of Isis.

Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her husband John R. Turner, parents William S. and Mamie Harvey Bragg and sisters Mary Harris, Mildred Upshaw, Anna Johnson, Delores Glass and Brothers-in-law Robert Harris, John Upshaw, Richard Johnson and James Glass.

Wilhelmina leaves to mourn three daughters and two sons-in-law. Jacqueline Harrison, Katharine (Jesse) Glover of Ewing, NJ and Kimberly (Gary) Scott of Ellicott City, MD. Four Grandchildren: Nicole Harrison- Byrd, Jesse D. Glover, Archibald (JR) Harrison and Brandon R. Scott. Ten Great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Godson Lawrence Pittman; two special caretakers; Tomika Rivers and Robbie Edwards.

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, August 25, 2025 at St. John's Baptist Church, 70 Oregon Ave., Ewing, NJ 08638 . Calling hour will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
