LeRoy Spears Obituary

LeRoy was born on January 30, 1944, to LeRoy and Ruth Spears in Trenton NJ. He  was the oldest of seven children. LeRoy passed away peacefully at the age of 80, on  March 24, 2024, at his Edgewater Park, NJ. residence, where he resided for the last  23 years. 

 LeRoy attended Trenton Central  High School, and various art schools including  Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Mercer County Community College. He was employed by US Steel in Trenton until their closing; he was also a local auto salesman, and he was most recently employed by the State of New Jersey where he subsequently retired. 

 He was a  member of Willingboro Art Alliance and other local fine art organizations as well as avid collector of records, and coins. As an artist, he received many accolades for his award-winning artwork. He has artwork  displayed in the Tuskegee Airman's Virtual Museum, and the Swamp  Angel Museum   in Ohio. His artwork was also featured on the cover of Trenton Historical Society's 2015 calendar 

 LeRoy was predeceased by his  parents, Leroy W Spears Sr, and Anne Ruth Spears (McGauley), his son, Leroy  W  Spears  Ill, and siblings, Edward Spears, Maxine Wilson, and Patricia Martin. 

 He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jo Ann Spears (White), daughters Theresa Spears-Drummond,  and Cynthia Spears, his siblings William (Butch) Spears, Linda  Spears, and Ronald Spears, his grandchildren, Christopher Drummond, Joseph Drummond Jr, Kayla Rodriguez (Omar), Elizabeth Collins, Tabitha Alvarez and Emile pears (a  Special caregiver who was there in his time of need), nine great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including closest friends Carol Bethea, Joyce Mitchell, Stanley Smith and Linda Tucker 

                      We thought of you with love today' but that is nothing new 
                 We  thought about you yesterday and days before that too 
                   We think of you in silent' we often speak your name, 
                  All we have are memories and your picture in a frame 
                 Your memory is our keepsake with which we'll neverpart.
                   God has you in His keeping we have you in our hearts:

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, April 1, 2024 at Calvary Christian Fellowship Ministries, 611 Parkway Ave., Ewing, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
