Leon A. Holland

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Leon Arthur Holland passed quietly through death into eternal life at his residence at Amber Court of Elizabeth, New Jersey On July 2, 1927 Leon was born the fourth child to parents Wallace C. Holland Sr and Carrie Holland.

The family moved from Denton, Maryland, to Princeton, New Jersey where Leon attended school and graduated from Princeton High School. After school Leon volunteered to join the United States Navy where he served through World War Il and the Korean War.

Leon loved classical music and owned an extensive collection of 78 rpm record classical recordings. Leon also enjoyed the sport of tennis. He could often be found on the courts of Princeton University challenging the tennis skills of their students and staff.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace C. Holland Sr., and Carrie Holland; step-mother, Edna Wright; brother, Wallace C. Holland Jr.; sisters, Henrietta Hill, and Louise May.

Leon leaves to cherish his memory, nephews, Wallace C. Holland 3rd, Keith Hill; nieces, Patrica May and Shirley Satterfield; along with other family and friends and the wonderful and caring staff at Amber Court where Leon has resided for over a decade.

Funeral service will be 10am Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Clover Leaf Cemetery, Woodbridge Twp., NJ.
