Leroy McCoy, Jr.

Leroy "Pookum" McCoy Jr. was born on March 5, 1962, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Mary Ann (McCoy) Seay and Leroy McCoy Sr. on May 13, 2026, he departed this life, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Leroy was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School as a member of the class of 1980. During his high school years, he earned recognition as an outstanding athlete and played an instrumental role in many of his football and basketball team victories. His athletic talent, determination, and competitive spirit made him a respected teammate and admired friend.

Affectionately known as "Pookum", Leroy was known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and genuine nature. He valued family, friendship, and the relationships he built throughout his life. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or words of encouragement, he left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann (McCoy) Seay and Leroy McCoy Sr., and his beloved sister, Lesha McCoy-Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving brother, Keith McCoy; his devoted sister, Racaundal McCoy-Laster; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, lifelong friends, former classmates, teammates, and all who were blessed to know him. In addition, his special Uncle and Aunt Frederick and Jermaine Scay.

Leroy's life was a testament to resilience, determination, and love. Though he has departed from our sight, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His spirit, laughter, and impact will never be forgotten.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, June 5, 2026 at St. Phillips Baptist Church, 445 Parkinson Ave., Trenton, NJ 08610. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
