Lois Singleton Obituary

Obituary 

Lois (Crowder) Singleton was born on April 16, 1934 in Sandersville, Georgia to the late Corine Crowder and Gordon Buster Demmons. Surrounded by her loving family she was called home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2022. Lois was educated in the Sandersville Schools where she attended T. J. Elder High School in Sandersville, Georgia. 

Lois was affectionately called by many names, Mom, Grand mom, Panmom, Aunt Lois, Mother Singleton, and "Agnus" by a special nephew, Walter. 

Lois moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1949 shortly before moving to Morrisville, PA. While she was living in Morrisville, she married Johnnie Lee Singleton Sr. and they were married June of 1955. A few years later Lois and Johnnie relocated to Bristol, PA and she remained a resident of Bristol until the time of her death. During those years she raised her children and others too. 

Lois was employed by Carter's Plastic until the company closed down. She then sought employment with Simon and Schuster Publishing Company as an auditor until her retirement in 2006. Lois was also employed by the Bristol Township School District for many years until her decline in mobility. 

Lois joined Community Baptist Church of Bristol over 50 years ago under the leadership of Rev. Wilmer Wright Lois was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Usher Board, sang in the choir. Lois joined the Mother's Ministry and she participated in Bible Study. Lois was an active Sunday School teacher for over 40 years until her health began to decline. Lois loved her church family and especially her Sunday School class. 

Lois enjoyed puzzle books and would be seen for hours completing them. She loved to cook and was known for her sweet potato pies. On holidays 
you could find Lois and her extended family cooking out in the back yard or having a birthday celebration in her home. During Christmas and Thanksgiving, the family would come together and celebrate as one. Lois enjoyed vacationing with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren_ 

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband Johnnie Lee Singleton Sr., her mother Corine Crowder; grandson Michael Singleton Sr.: great-granddaughter Zya Singleton; 2 sisters Doris Wilkerson and Johnnie Mae Lynch; 1 brother Lee Crowder. 

She leaves to cherish her memory 3 children Johnnie Singleton Jr. (Mary), Sandra Singleton (Mimi), Phyllis Singleton (Andre), a special nephew Walter Jones; 9 grandchildren Monique Copeland, Kihahn Singleton, Jamaal Singleton, Lateefa Coleman, Jasmine Singleton, Kariez Howard, Shakina Singleton, Briana Thomas, and Tyrik Thompson; 23 great­grandchildren, a very special friend Jackie aka "Judy," and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family and friends. 

 

Funeral service will be 10am Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Community Baptist Church, 225 Radcliffe St, Bristol, PA 19007. Calling hour will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Bristol Cemetery, Bristol, PA. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Hom
