Marjorie Evans Givens Burnette, daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Evans was born on November 12th, 1936 in Clinchco, Virginia. She answered God's call into eternal life on Thursday, May 7th 2020 at Capital Health at Fuld Campus. She was a resident of Trenton for over 60 years.
"Margie", as she was affectionately called, gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined her family church (Wayne Avenue Baptist Church). She was a loving, caring and compassionate person who loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Margie graduated from Trenton Central High School and attended Mercer County Community College. She was employed by the State of New Jersey and retired from the Department of Youth and Family Services.
Margie was united in holy matrimony to her husband Rev. Willis Burnette for 35 years.
She and her husband loved to sing together. The congregation at her family church will remember her singing 'Jesus, Jesus". She was well known throughout the Trenton area churches, singing with the "Gospelettes", accompanied by Bro. George Davis.
She later joined Grace Community Church where her nephew, Rev. Ethan Evans was her pastor. At Grace Community she attended Sunday School faithfully, she was a member of the mother's ministry and sang with the seasoned saints.
In addition to her parents, Margie was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, Robert, Clifford, Charles, Fred, and James Evans; sisters, Lola Thornton, Mildred Ingram and Doris McClary, and grandson Terrence Carter Jr. Margie's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her husband, Rev. Willis Burnette; sons Terrence (Trumaine) Carter and Kenneth (Sheila) Brown; daughter Kimberly Covington of France; grandchildren Jaylen, Jasmine, Caleb and Kenny Jr.; one great granddaughter; sister, Betty Washington; brother Velt (Ruth) Evans; sisters-in-law Jean, Mary, Hallie and Barbara Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
