Marvin Foxworth, 87, of Harrington, Delaware was called home on October 19, 2023. He was affectionally known as “Brother“ by his close family and friends. Born June 26, 1936, to Arthur Foxworth, Sr. and Walker Legette Foxworth in Marion County, South Carolina.
He was educated at Marion High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball, eventually playing professionally in the Negro Baseball League.Upon completion of his baseball career, he worked briefly in Flint, Michigan for General Motors. He eventually moved to New Jersey and found work at Stokley Van Camp’s, then moving on and retiring from Hill Refrigeration in Trenton, NJ. During that time, he met and married the love of his life, Hortense. They decided to make their home in Trenton, NJ before retiring in Harrington, Delaware.
Before he became ill, you could always find him leaving early in the morning heading to Dunkin Donuts for a large coffee and two glazed donut and his newspaper. He would return home, park in the driveway and listen to his music, while eating his donuts and reading the newspaper.
He is preceded by parents, Arthur Foxworth Sr., and Walker Legette Foxworth; Loving Wife Hortense; brother, Arthur Jr.; sisters, Albertine, Lesa and Brenda.He leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Ronny (Roxanne) and Eric (Chrystal); brother Clifton (Shirley); sisters, Sallie (Malachi), Mildred (William), and Evelyn; 6 grandkids, Eric, Megan, Raven, Ashley, Amber and Matthew; several great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
