Maude Malson Obituary

When someone you Jove becomes a memory, the t memory becomes a treasure, Maude C. Malson was called home to glory on June 23, 2022. 

Maude was born July 29; 1925 to the late Elmer C. Scott and Margaret Scott in Philadel­phia, Pennsylvania. Maude was born and raised in the Germantown section of Philadel­phia. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. She fell in love with her childhood sweet heart Earl R. Malson and married in November of 1946 and from that union had four children, Byron S. Earl Jr. Carolyn and Michael. 

Maude received her early education in the Philadelphia Public School System. She later in life continued her post secondary education while she worked at the Lower Bucks County Child care Center by taking courses at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown and the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She ultimately received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. 

Maude had many talents. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake Christmas cookies. She loved the holidays and loved to host Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners. She also loved to sew, crochet and do ceramics. She also enjoyed her crossword puzzles. Maude touched many lives as a day care center teacher. She was loved by the children and was a mentor to lots of the young mothers, 

Maude was also an avid bowler. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables and canning the vegetables for the winter. Her favorite flowers were her azalea bushes and her rose garden. Maude was also active in her neighborhood Civic Association and local politics. She was an active member of the Eastern Stars before she moved to Virginia. 

Maude retired at an early age and took over the responsibility of caring for the grandchil­dren. Maude and her husband moved from the city of Philadelphia in 1956. They lived in the Levittown, P A area for more than 30 years. After her husband retired they moved to Barboursville, Virginia and lived there about 25 years. After her health started to fail she moved back to Pennsylvania with her daughter. 

Maude loved taking the grandchildren for the summer to Virginia and taking them on day trips, picnics and adventures like picking peaches and strawberries. Maude belonged to Second Baptist in Bristol when she lived in PA and Blue Run Baptist Church when she moved to Virginia. 

Maude was preceded in death by her husband Earl R. Malson, 2 sons Byron S. Malson and Earl R. Malson Junior and son-in-law Thomas Hargrove, and one granddaughter Shannon 
Malson. 

Maude leaves to cherish her memory and legacy of love her daughter Carolyn Hargove and son Michael Malson and daughters-in-law Loretta Malson and Medora Malson. Grandchildren Paul Wilson, Joan Marie Questell Melendez, Joel Wilson, Michelle Deshield, Samantha Malson, Mark Hargrove (Ebony), Serena Day, Sharonda Washington, Michael B. Malson, Beyonce Malson and Myron Malson. A host of great grandchildren and a host of niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews, Two special cousins Loretta Brock and Frances Hunter and a special Goddaughter Kellee Bowman. 

 

Funeral service will be 11am Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Bible Evangelical Church, 1601 Lakeland Ave, Bristol, PA 19007. ​Calling hours will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Willow Grove, PA. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
