Melanie Jones Obituary

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out the womb I sanctified thee; Jeremiah 1:5b.  

Melanie D. Jones' journey began on Friday August 9, 1985, in Trenton, NJ New Jersey. A special 7 pound and 15-ounce blessing was given to Dannette Jones and the late Melvin Austell Sr.  

Melanie transitioned from this life to her eternal home on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11  

Melanie received her early education through the Hamilton Township School system. She has always ventured into the areas of healthy eating and fitness. Her compassionate and kind spirit led her to pursue a path in the healthcare field. She studied nursing at Rowan College (Burlington County Campus) and also the Sanford-Brown Institute Medical Assistant Certification Program. She was employed by Rutgers University and worked at the Kraft Department of Corrections site as a Certified Medical Assistant. Her accreditations also include her service as a Doula, on June 25,2020 she was recognized by the Trenton Community Doulas for her concerned and caring heart and also her listening ear.  

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name. Psalms 100:4  

Melanie was born and raised in the House of God Church where she was a member of the group Youth Anointed for Christ.  

When it came to giving God the Glory! She praised Him with her whole heart. She served on the local usher board and assisted with the Beginners Sunday School class.  

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8  

Melanie was predeceased by her father Melvin Austell Sr., and her maternal grandfather Elder Dan Jones, Jr.  

Left to nurture and adore fond and fun memories of Melanie is her baby girl Alanna Ingram whom she fought and prayed for 90 days before being released from the hospital after her premature birth.  

Her devoted mother Dannette Jones Collins (Gerald); her dad William Simmons. her sisters Davonna, Darlisha and D' Asia Simmons; Angel  

Wells, Melshay Austell and a host of cousin/ sisters. One brother Melvin Austell, Jr.  

Her loving grandmother Hattie Mae Gillard of whom she cared deeply and expressed it so much so until she made sure her "Nana" attended her church's National Convention by taking her to Nashville, Tennessee June 2019.  

Her maternal aunts Regina and Janice; uncles Danny, Derrick and Andre and her Godmother Carolyn Robinson.  

Extended Austell and Simmons family members; two very special friends Marjorie and Tasha; and so many other close friends too numerous to name. Also, her god-sisters, god-brothers and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Services will be 11am Monday, February 15, 2021 at Lighthouse Outreach Ministries, 715 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be at 9am until the time of services. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
