Melton Bond Jr. Obituary

After sixty-three years of living his life to the fullest, our beloved “Butchie” gained his wings on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey.

Melton N. Bond, Jr, affectionately known as “Butchie”, was born April 3, 1957 in Trenton, New Jersey, to Delois Y. Bond and Melton N. Bond, Sr.

Butchie was educated in the Trenton public school system. He worked at various jobs over his life, including Parkway Nursing Home, where he met his fiance, Joyce Brooks.

All loved Butchie because of his kind disposition. Most people would consider him a sweetheart, compassionate, and caring. He was the type of guy to give his last to someone in need. Butchie was also the life of the party. You could always catch him dancing to his favorite band, Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Butchie was a caring and devoted father. He was very proud of his daughter and granddaughter, and he bragged about them every chance he got. He was a family man through and through. Butchie loved being around his family and stayed in contact with family members out of town. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys!

Butchie will be reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death; his mother, Delois Y. Bond; his brother, Anthony E. Bond; and a nephew, Anthony Smith.

Butchie’s memory will be cherished and forever remembered by: his father, Melton N. Bond, Sr. of Trenton, NJ; his daughter, Lacara Horne (Tyree) of Elkton, MD; his fiancé, Joyce Brooks of Trenton, NJ; step-sons, Kevin Brooks and Germaine Brooks of Trenton, NJ; his bonus daughter, Tameshia Brown of Trenton, NJ; his sisters, Alice D. Bond and Norma D. Bond-Robertson (Rick) of Trenton; NJ; his granddaughter, Laila Horne of Elkton, MD; a special nephew, Donald L. Bond (Sheri); nephews, Ajani Smith of Trenton, NJ, Rulis M. Merritt of Louisville, KY, and Rickey Hargis (Taja) of Magnolia, DE; his Godchildren, Donielle Simmons (Marques) of Cottage Grove, MN and Terrance Hill of Trenton, NJ; aunt and uncles, Mary Newsome of Boston, MA, Willie and Charlie Bond of Clermont, FL, Johnny and Ruby Bond of Edenton, NC, Gertha and Victor Thomas of Edenton, NC, Henry Bond of Edenton, NC and Elton Bond (Joan) of Edenton, NC; special families The McBride and The Law families; his dear friends, Tyrone Hill, Sr., Donald McBride, John Garner, and Walter Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Butchie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
