Melvin Lee Queen, Jr. was born in Trenton, NJ to Leanna Greene and the late Melvin Lee Queen, Sr on October 12, 1963. He departed this life on April 25, 2021 in Trenton, NJ.
Melvin was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended school within the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School. Melvin then, attended culinary school and worked as a chef at the YMCA of Trenton and as a Manager at the Trenton Soup Kitchen.
As a little kid, Melvin liked to preach and was therefore given the name "Preacher Boy " But his sister Iesha affectionately called him 'Boober.' In his free time, Melvin enjoyed cooking, reading novels, watching movies, and singing. Although he spent much of his time cooking and became incredibly skilled at it, Melvin could never recreate one of his favorite rushes, his mom's infamous banana pudding. Aside from his hobbies, Melvin would lend a helping hand to those in need whenever he was able to.
Melvin was predeceased by his father, Melvin Lee Queen, Sr, and stepfather, Edward Greene.
Melvin's memory will forever be cherished and remembered by his mother, Leanna Greene; stepmother, Myrtle Queen; his children's mother, Marie Logan; two sons, Rashawn Logan, Sr and Wesley Queen, Sr; one daughter, Chanda Queen Madi and son-in-law, Malek Madi; six grandchildren, Rashawn Logan, Rah Jeaha Logan, Treyshawn Logan, Wesley Queen, Jr., Jesse Queen, and Eli Madi; one great grandchild, Dekari Kelly; three brothers, Darryl Hamilton, Earl Clark, Sr sister in-law, Silvia Clark, and Boyce Clark III; two sisters, Kimberly Thomas and Iesha Queen Moorehead and brother in-law, Timothy Moorehead, Jr.; three life-long friends Keith Stroman, Carl Taylor, and James Simmons; a special friend, Timmy Knox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 1pm Monday, May 3, 2021 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
