After 91 years of making us laugh, bringing us joy, and sharing her love,'our beloved Mildred accepted her angel's invitation and went to join our Heavenly Father in para- dise on Sunday, March 2, 2025. As a result, our hearts are heavy, but we know that the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace, and comfort.
Mildred Major was born in Lane, South Carolina on November 20, 1933. She was the oldest child born to Alex Ravnell and Rhodie Maxwell Ravnell. Mildred was educated in the Williamsburg County, South Carolina school system and graduated from Tomlinson High School. She was a devoted wife to James Major and they became proud parents of one daughter Barbara J. Major.
Mildred worked as a sub-assembly at Trane. In 1963 Mildred joined the Mt. Zion AME Church. During her years at the church, she served for many years on the Stewardess Board. Mildred was hardworking, kind, and generous. She loved dining at Red Lobster with her family, and watching Jeopardy with her daughter. She made the best potato salad and blueberry dumplings.
Mildred shares an inseparable bond with her sister having spent hours chatting with her on the phone.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband James Major; her parents Alex and Rhodie Ravnell; and her brother Clarence Ravnell.
Mildred's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her daughter Barbara J. Major; grand-daughter Alia; great-grandson Eden; sister Alexzean Tisdale; two brothers-in-law John Tisdale and James Miller; two sisters-in-law Elaine Ravnell and Jessie Mae Mcclary; special friends Ollie Little and Vilma Henry; two special cousins Bryant Burroughs and Dorine Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 10am Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Greater Mt. Zion AME. Church, 34 Pennington Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 8am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
