Ola Mae Laster Gussin was born on February 4, 1958, in Browns Mills, NJ to the late Eulamae Johnson Laster and Arthur Lee Laster. She was raised in Browns Mills, NJ, and later made Trenton, New Jersey her lifelong home.
Ola Mae received her education in the Trenton Public School System and attended Trenton Central High School. She worked diligently throughout her life, including many years at TrentonPsychiatric Center, as a building cleaner, where she was known for her strong work ethic, humor, and dedication.
Ola Mae truly enjoyed the simple joys of life, she loved playing scratch-offs, coloring, listening to music, cooking, and cleaning. Her laughter and warm spirit could fill any room, and her love forher family ,was endless.
In addition to her parents, Ola Mae was preceded in death by her son, William Laster; her sisters, Homelean Porter, Judy Ann Laster, and Connie Laster; her sister-in-law, Kelly Laster; andother loved ones who have gone before her.
Left to cherish her loving memory is her devoted daughter, Ebony Gussin of Trenton, NJ; one grandson, Ja'Cear J. Whitaker of Trenton, NJ; three brothers: Peter Laster (Helen) of Vero Beach,FL, William Frank Laster (Lorraine) of Trenton, NJ, and Arthur Lee Laster, Jr. of Trenton, NJ; one niece/daughter, Takeeta DeLee; one special niece: Breasia \/Whitaker; and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
Ola Mae was affectionately known as "Auntie" to many and will be remembered for her kindness, strength, laughter, and unconditional love. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, November 14, 2025 at New Salem Baptist Church, 316 Union St., Trenton, NJ 08611. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be at Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ.
