Owen Eddie Bryant was born on January 25, 1938, in Council, North Carolina to the late Sophia Caroline Bryant and Eddie Bryant Jr. He departed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Owen had many brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by brothers Marvin, Ormand, Harold, Carmick and Lee; sisters Veretta and Phrosenia. Leaving to carry on their family legacy of great farmers is brother Ulon.
Owen was educated in the Council County School System in Council, NC. In his early life he relocated in the Bristol, Pennsylvania area where he worked many years as a in A&P Warehouse. He was a hard worker, and he made sure to drill working and being a provider into his children. Owen loved to garden and working on cars.
Owen dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. On August 8, 1979, Owen married the love of his life Velma Bryant. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend. Owen was a peaceful and loving man, and his caring nature earned him affection from everyone he met, however, he was also very impatient, LOL.' He had a very good sense of humor that only the closest people to him got to experience mainly his three sons.
Owen was affectionately known as Hedge Hog by his late wife Velma aka Reedo, Sanford, Old man, Pops and O'Dog. Owen loved to eat sweets and did not discriminate, but his favorite was ice cream. His favorite shows were westerns like Gun Smoke and also Sanford and Son. During football season he was front and center for the Carolina Panthers. He will be remembered for his infamous butterfly collars and suits.
Owen leaves to cherish his memory: his legacy of love his children, Beverly Brady of Collins, MS, Victor Bryant of Bristol, PA, Brian West of Burlington, NJ and Celeste Beatty, Sterling Cooper of Bristol, PA; seven grandchildren; great grandchildren; one brother Ulon Bryant, Bristol, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews,- cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be 10am Monday, March 10, 2025 at Bible Evangelical Church, 1601 Lakeland Ave, Bristol, PA 19007. ​Calling hours will be 8am until the time of service. Interment will be at Bristol Cemetery, Bristol, PA.
