PATRIC NABB ERSKINE OBITUARY

Patric Nanabanyin Erskine, born April 16 1956; passed away March 08 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton NJ, USA.

Togbui Zewu III of Kedji, Ebusuapanyin Mr. P.A.Y.Fumey, Mr. P.K. Krugah Fumey (Germany), Chief John Mensah, Dr Nunyaku Mensah, Mr. Raphael Mensah (United Kingdom), Madam Beatrice Ziga (Canada) and Auntie Ama Mensah regret to announce the death of musician and pianist Mr Patric Nanabanyin Erskine.

Patric Nanabanyin Erskine was born to Monica Koshiwovi Fumey and Count Alan Erskine in Takoradi and attended St Augustine’s Secondary School, Cape Coast, Ghana.

A talented and an accomplished musician, Patric Nanabanyin Erskine was a household name performing as Pat Erskine and the Supersonic Boulders dance band - a must see item in the entertainment scene. His band played in and beyond the capital city of Ghana, Accra. He also played with Sweet Beans, a dance band sponsored by Ghana Cocoa Marketing Board in the 70s and 80s.

In 1999 Erskine moved to the United States on a mission of improvised music adventure. Influenced by jazz greats like Ornette Coleman, he dabbled into Afro jazz, pre-releasing a three-part series, Rhythm and Dance Party.

Erskine is survived by Children: Ella-Fitzgerald Monica Erskine (Accra, Ghana), Virgil Erskine (NJ, USA) and Vaughan Erskine (NJ, USA) Brothers / Sisters / Cousins / Dear Friends: Emelia Bhavnani, Bright Bimpong, Charles Sam, Solomon Sam, Esther Sam, Cela Ocloo, George Dzokoto, Davi Doe, Norviagbor Fumey, Patrick Fumey, Akpeni Fumey, Emelia Soglohu, Paul Tsiquaye, Adjeni Lodonu, Emmanuel Atise and Victoria Wemega Other Family Members : Theodora Saba, Mercy Babanawo, Felicia Lodonu, Patricia Atise, Kweshi Babanawo, Mama Soglohu, Wisdom Soglohu, Cephas Babanawo, Joseph Eshun, Kafui Babanawo, Faustina Quarshie, Bernard Quarshie and Veronica Anamu .

Funeral service will be 1pm Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
