Pharoah Lewis,89, of Lawrenceville, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at Serenity Hospice after a long-term decline in his health. Born in Swainsboro, GA, he later moved to Freehold, NJ, where he attended Freehold Regional High School.
A skilled, self-taught carpenter, Pharoah worked many years in his trade before joining the Department of Corrections, where he served until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, reading, watching sports, and socializing with friends. Known for his independence, honesty, and no-nonsense nature, he lived life on his own terms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada (Cooper) Lewis and Pharoah Lewis Sr.; siblings David Lewis and Ruby (Lewis) Edwards; and sons Gregory Pharoah Lewis, Barry Lewis, and Robert Lewis. He is survived by by siblings Anna (Lewis) rush of Rocky Mount, NC; Pauline Lewis of Tampa, FL; and Joe Lewis (Kendelene) of Ewing, NJ; brother-in-law Frank Edwards of Freehold, NJ; children Richard Lewis (Karen) of Lawrenceville, NJ; Darlene Lewis of Lawrenceville NJ; Brenda Hill of Raleigh, NC; and Lionel Woods of Orlando, FL; along with 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt thank you to Margaret Tucker, his devoted longtime caregiver.
Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave,. Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
