Raynette L. Brown

Raynette Leslie Brown, 45, of Trenton, NJ was born on July 9, 1980 to Georgette and Raymond Porter, Sr. She was affectionately named "Sugar", by her late grandmother "Vene" and known as Ray-Ray to many. Raynette departed this life on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Hackensack Meridian Bayshore Medical Center. 

Raynette was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1998. After high school she worked for the City of Trenton Municipal Court, Eastern Dental, and Maschio's Food Service

Raynette attended Interfaith Tabernacle Church and Tabernacle of Deliverance Christian Ministries.

In 1998, Raynette started dating Akili E. Brown whom she married in 2006. They raised three beautiful children, Sah’mir Brown, Raymir Brown, and Paris Hughes. 

She loved music, enjoyed spending time with her family, and hosting parties…especially for the kids. 

Raynette was predeceased by her Grandfather, George Chew, Jr; Grandmother Lubenia "Vene" Chew: Uncle, Bernard "Bernie" Porter; cousins, Ronald "One Love" Jones and William " DOC" Chew; Grandfather-in law, Benjamin Barge, Jr; and Brother-in law, Siheer Brown. 

Raynette is survived by her husband, Akili E. Brown. Three children, Sah'mir Brown, Raymir Brown, and Paris Hughes. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Porter, Sr. Brother, Raymond Porter Jr. Three nieces, Raielle, A'Raya and Kylee Porter. Five aunts and two uncles. Mother-in law, Pamela Barge. Father-in-law, S. Akili Brown (Jesslyn). Sister-in-law, Michal Brown. Grandmother-in law, Eva Burney. Six Godchildren, Three Godsisters: Theresa Goss, Kandice Queen, and Marty White. Three Godbrothers: Tarique Chew, Fabian Rogers, and Dahquah Edwards-Chew. Godmother, Lida Goss. Godfather, Ronald Champion. Four special friends: Angela Watson, Kenyanna Miller, Marisol Lopez, and Tiffany Stevens. As well as a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be private.
