Ricky W. Fitzgerald Obituary

Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1961, Ricky Wade Fitzgerald was a blessing to his parents, Clarence Wade and Callie Coleman Fitzgerald, and the youngest of nine surrounded by deep faith and unwavering love. His parents’ devotion to the Lord shaped children. Raised in a close-knit home filled with warmth and laughter, Ricky grew np the foundation of the Fitzgerald family, and Ricky embraced that spiritual heritage early in life. He was baptized at Union Baptist Church, where Sundays meant worship fellowship, and joyful gatherings with siblings and cousins’ moments that became cherished memories.

An enthusiastic athlete from a young age, Ricky found joy on the basketball courts Mary's Cathedral and Junior 1 School, and on the football fields with the Ewing Bulldogs. He graduated proudly from Trenton Central High School in 1981.

Inspired by the entrepreneurial legacy of his older brothers, Ricky brought his own passion for service to the Trenton community through his neighborhood store, Roadrunners. To many, it was more than a shop- it was a place of generosity, laughter, and belonging. Ricky quietly extended credit to families in need, never hesitating to ensure that no one went without. With a deep love for children, he launched a rewards program celebrating academic success and positive behavior. Each report card season, children would gather at the store, eager to share their achievements and receive candy, treats, and Ricky's ever-present encouragement. His warmth and humor were signature gifts, and his playful nicknames left smiles wherever he went. A passionate supporter of youth sports, Ricky proudly sponsored a West End Little League team named after his store, embodying his commitment to uplifting young people and fostering community spirit.

As life moved forward, Ricky transitioned into roles in security and transportation, working at the Hun School of Princeton before finding fulfillment in carpentry-a trade he approached with care and craftsmanship.

Through all seasons of life, Ricky remained the ultimate confidant. His listening ear, comforting words, and steady presence made him a source of strength to those around him. He found joy in traveling and creating lifelong memories with his closest friends, embracing each experience with his signature laugh and generous heart.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clarence and Callie; his brothers David, Dale, Bobbie Lee, James, and William "Billy'; his sister, Delores sisters-in-law, Dolores and Gloria; and his great-nephew and lil buddy Craig Jr. May they be reunited in heavenly peace.

Ricky leaves behind two devoted sisters, Della (Rodney) Hageman of Ewing Township and Loretta Fitzgerald Wallace of Trenton, NJ; his cherished sister-in-love Marguerite "Pinky" Fitzgerald; six nephews, eight nieces; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will carry forward the joy, humor, and compassion he brought into their lives.

Though Ricky has departed this earthly life, his spirit lives on-in every act of kindness he inspired, in every life he touched, and in every heart that holds his memory with love.
