Robert K. Burke, 71, departed this life on April 15, 2024 at Capita Health Hospital in Trenton, NJ. Robert was born and raised in Ewing Township, NJ on April 24, 1952 to the late Robert W. Burke and Charlotte Carter Burke.
Robert "Burke" as he was known to many was educated in the Ewing Public School System, where he excelled in every subject. His beloved mother Charlotte kept every certificate and award to prove it. Growing up he loved all sports and was always very competitive with quoits, baseball and basketball (which was his favorite) often receiving trophies for his part in winning games. After graduating from Ewing High School, Robert headed to Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina to pursue a Degree in Social Work and Business Administration. He loved the college experience and he'd often write home to share his experiences with his parents. He made many friends in North Carolina during those years.
Robert returned home and worked over the years with various employers such as the State of NJ as a Social Worker, the Trentonian Newspaper as a Reporter and East Coast Credit before retiring with Harrison Ross Byke Law Firm as a Tax Collector. In November of 1999, Robert turned his life over to the Lord and was baptised at Union Baptist Church. Robert was a true people person and was definitely a friend to everyone he met, it was just his personality. He was well known in Trenton, Ewing and beyond. He was also a jokester and comedian who loved to make others laugh. Robert loved following social media groups like "Old School Trentonians" where you can find his posts, Ewing Neighborhood Organizations and Facel3ook where if he knew
you, you can expect a Birthday shout out from him. Robert was known for wearing the.coolest suits, clothes and shoes, but mainly for his extensive Fedora hat collection and baseball caps, you'd rarely see him without a hat on his head. Robert was very close to his Mother Charlotte, as she was to him. As her health was declining (as was his), he was determined to keep her home to care for her with assistance from her caretakers Bernice and Corliss. Sadly, she passed on March 15, 2024. Robert shared a special bond with his Linde Charles "Bootsie" Carter, who he shared long conversations with, his cousin Tyrone Hammock, who's advice he respected, Herbert "Bugs" Downing, who he loved like a brother and a mentor and Renee Mason Dean, who he knew since
childhood Who he was close to. Robert shared with Me (his sister Carla) Many conversations regarding his close circle of friends that he truly adored, if I named them all, we'd ,be here for a While. Just know, Robert loved 'every loved one of, you. He shared with me how much he loved his siblings Carla, Caren and Kevin.
