Robin M. Young (Cook), 64 of Moyock, NC departed this life peacefully on November 2, 2023 at Waterside Health and Rehab, in Norfolk, VA. Robin was born August 17, 1959, in Trenton, NJ where she remained a resident then later relocating to Chesapeake, VA, and Moyock, NC.
Robin was educated in the Trenton Public School System, attended Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield, MA, and Rider University, Robin then went on to work with the state of New Jersey; NJ State Council on the Arts where she retired after thirty-one years of dedicated services.
Robin had a kind and compassionate heart and was a gentle soul who was always willing to help others. She also very often spoke her mind. Robin was a devoted and doting wife, mother, and grandmother who filled her family's lives with love and joy. She loved to travel, entertain, shop, and cook. At home, Robin enjoyed gardening and solving crossword puzzles. Robin especially loved spending tim with her children and grandchildren:
Robin was an active member of the homeless ministry of Union Baptist Church and a member of the Urban League of Greater Trenton before relocating.
Robin was preceded in death by her father Robert Cook Sr.; her brother Eric Cook.
Robin is survived by her husband of many years William Young; she leaves to cherish her memories her two children Fletchia Grier-Smith (John), Fletcher Grier (Latanya) two bonus children William Young Il (Melissa), Salena Young-Rutherford (Marquise). Robin also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Chelsea, Kaylah, John Ill, Zhane, Carter, Skyela, Bryce, Miles, and Braylon; Mother, Cora Dickens, four brothers Robert Cook Jr. of Savannah, GA, Wesley Davis of Tobyhanna, PA, Wilfred Mungro (Sherry) of Stroudsburg, PA and Dwayne Cook (Brenda) of Chesapeake, VA. Three sisters Essalenia Cook-Draper (Cedric) of San Francisco, CA, Ruby Bridges of Bloomfield, CT and Patricia Cook of Pocono, PA, her very best friend Lisa Dickerson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robin was a member of Union Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ and worshipped at Gethsemane Fellowship Church in Norfolk, VA. Robin will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Union Baptist Church, Pennington Avenue Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home.
