Rory A. Rhodes Obituary

Rory A. Rhodes, affectionately known as Roy, was born to Stewart and Gloria Rhodes on February 26, 1966. He departed this life on April 11, 2026 at the Accela Rehab Center in Hamilton, NJ.

Roy accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor Daniel C. Evans and Pastor Nathaniel Benjamin, Jr. He was an active member of the Junior Ushers, the Young Adult Choir, the Mass Choir and Sunday School. Roy knew and loved the Lord with all of his heart.

Roy was the best uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was affectionately known to all of their friends as Unc.

Roy was educated in the Trenton and Princeton Public School Systems. During his high school years, Roy attended Princeton Day School and Mercer County Vocational Technical School Sypek Center for Graphic Arts. Roy graduated with his High School Diploma and his Certificate of Completion in Graphic Arts in 1984.

In 2002, Roy completed his educational training as a Certified Approved Substance Abuse Counselor by the Addiction Professional Certification Board of NJ, Inc. With that education, Roy worked in numerous facilities as a Drug Counselor. These facilities included Bo Robinson, Henry J. Austin Health Center, Mid-State Prison and Trenton Treatment Center. In 2009, Roy retired due to health conditions.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother Gloria Allen, two brothers Anthony Rhodes, Perry Rhodes, Sr. and his nephew Keenan Trower. Roy leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted sister and caretaker Venus Rhodes; nephews Perry Rhodes Jr., Kendal Trower, Anthony Rhodes, Keke Palmer and Dominic Cooper; nieces Cecily Squire, Aziyah Rhodes, Deja Trower, Dream Cooper and D'Asia Simmons. Two uncles Cleveland Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson.

A host of cousins; three special friends Carol Coe, Jackie Pincher and Marsha Smith; Godmothers Bettye Hall and Viola Lewis.

 

Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Eggerts Crossing, 121 Hillcrest Ave., Lawrence Township, NJ 08648. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
