Rosalie Gaines was born on July 7, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl and Louise Williams. She was Franklin Township Public Schools. Rosalie raised in Franklinville, New Jersey, where she attended moved to and marrying the late James Gaines Sr, Trenton, New Jersey, where she began building her family
Rosalie worked faithfully at St Francis Medical Center where she was employed until her retirement in 2005.
During the 21 years of her retirement, Rosalie enjoyed spending her time doing the things she loved most. She took great joy in caring for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, attending activities at her senior center, and going on bus and van trips with her friends to places she always wanted to visit or said she had never been to. She had a special love for two things taking pictures at every event or family function she attended and arts and crafts, especially for making her famous tissue couches, which she proudly shared with family and friends. Rosalie also loved talking on the phone and spending quality time with her loved ones, especially when a good fish fry and barbecue was involved.
Rosalie is now preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Louise; her two brothers, Arthur and Carl Sr.; her sisters, Francis and Ethel; and her beloved husband, James Gaines.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her only son, Reginald Janice) Williams; her three grandchildren, Shavonnia, Reggie, and Isaiah; and a bonus grandchildren, Michael. She was also blessed with two great- grandchildren, Nalani and Jakobe.
Rosalie also leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters, Joyce and Minne; her special friends Lorraine, Pauline, Margaret, and Ms. Parker(Pansie); along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many other loving family members and dear friends.
Rosalie will always be remembered for her kind spirit, creativity, and the love she shared with everyone around her, her sassiness and her words..Stay Strong., Stick Together and Love One Another!
Funeral service will be 12pm Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
