Rose M. Kelly

We gather in spirit to remember and celebrate the life of Rose Margaret Kelly, a cherished Trenton resident who transitioned from this life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Greenwood House, at the age of 87. Born on October 14, 1938, in Trenton, Rose was the beloved daughter of the late Hazel and Andrew Brooks, and she remained a steadfast presence in the Trenton community throughout her entire life.

Rose’s roots in Trenton run deep. She was educated in the Trenton Public School System and always maintained a close connection to her hometown and its people. In April 1959, Rose married Joshua Kelly, Jr., and together they welcomed their beloved son, Jeffrey Wayne Kelly. Rose’s compassion and dedication shone brightly through her years of service as a preschool teacher, guiding and nurturing countless young lives. She also made a significant impact as a beautician, where her talent and kindness touched all who sat in her chair.

Rose was a devoted and longtime member of Union Baptist Church, drawing strength, fellowship, and spiritual guidance from her faith and church community. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering and provided comfort and inspiration to those around her.

She leaves behind cherished memories for her nephews: Norman Brooks, Antonio Porter (Kim), Gary Porter, Robert Porter, Joseph Porter (Michelle), Jonathan Porter (Kimberly), and Le Conte Porter. In addition, a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones will forever hold Rose’s memory dear and celebrate the legacy of warmth, generosity, and love she leaves behind.

May we all find comfort in the many fond memories we shared with Rose and continue to honor her spirit in our hearts and lives.

Funeral service will be 11am Monday, May 18, 2026 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be private.
