Rufus Whitworth

Rufus E. Whitworth affectionately known as "Ru" departed this life on June 28, 2026 at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, at the age of 62.

He was born in Trenton, NJ on November 4, 1963. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was educated in the Trenton Public School System and graduated from Trenton Central High School. He continued his education at Mercer County Community College.

Rufus was previously with the Trenton Board of Education and the Boys and Girls Club. He retired from Capital Health Regional Medical Center (formerly known as Fuld)/Hopewell Campus as a Labor and Delivery Technician.

He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer COG IC under the late Bishop Clinton Love.

Rufus was an avid beach goer who loved visiting parks for live music, attending shows, enjoying good food, and traveling. He had a gift for walking into a room of strangers and leaving with a room full of friends, drawn by his warmth, jokes and effortless coolness. He made everyone feel at ease, welcomed, and would have you cracking up with laughter.

Rufus was predeceased by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Whitworth; and his siblings, Kelvin, Samuel, George, Gloria, and Jean.

He leaves to cherish his memories siblings, Marie (Ronnie), Dave and Linda; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; his treasured circle of friends, beloved neighbors, cherished colleagues, and the many companions who shared his journey through life, including those who loved him in chapters past. 

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 471 Parkway Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be private.
