Russell (Gregory) Williams Obituary

Russell (Gregory) Williams was born on January 6, 1956, to Russell Williams Jr and Alice (Fleming) Williams. He is the grandson of Forrest Fleming Sr. And Sadie (Lewis) Fleming. He received his education in the East Orange, New Jersey school  system and graduated  from Essex  County High School  in Bloomfield, New Jersey, in 1974. As a teenager, Gregory was  athletic and enjoyed competitive sports, including basketball. He also had a passion for weightlifting. Family gatherings were something he eagerly anticipated, where he would meet up with his cousins. He particularly relished competing with cousins Derrick and Rodney, who were the  same age as him. Whether it involved racing toy cars on a racetrack, seeing who could ride a
two-wheel bike the furthest on one wheel, or even determining who could grow the biggest Afro they enjoyed a friendly rivalry.

Gregory  was employed  at Ford Motor   Company and purchased his first car from Ford during his tenure there. Eventually, he moved on from Ford and found alternative means of supporting himself. Throughout the years,  Gregory had a supportive "village" of friends and family, including Michael (HasAbusan)  Parham,  Lamont  Ingram, Daryl Ingram (Abu Dawud Shahir), Andrea   Staten, Aubrey Fleming, Fiona Fleming, Kirk Fleming Sr., Rodney Brown, and many  others.

Gregory Williams was predeceased  by his parents, Russell and Alice Williams, and his sister, Karen Elder. Gregory is survived by his daughter and his half-brother, Christopher Williams, brother-in-law Karl Elder, nieces Alicia (Herbert) Taylor and Sharay (Ronald) Carrigan, an uncle, Aubrey Fleming and numerous cousins.
