Sandra Matlock, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at Serenity Hospice, Hamilton, New Jersey.
Sandra was born on June 25, 1944, to Jesse and Mabel Green in Trenton, New Jersey. She graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1962 and continued her educational endeavor at Rider College, Lawrenceville, NJ completing two years of study before beginning her career in Human Resource at FMC Corporation. Her years of employment included Unisys Corporation (telemarketing firm), Mathematica, Response Analysis, Gallup Poll, and New Jersey Schools Development Authority.
Sandra's life was a testament of unwavering faith, love and devotion to the Lord for she was an active member of Cadwalader Asbury United Methodist Church where she served on the Usher board and numerous church committees. Once Cadwalader Asbury United Methodist Church closed, Sandra worshipped at Greater Mount Zion AME Church in Trenton, New Jersey.
For the past 62 years Gerald Matlock Sr was her partner, helpmate, and love of her life. They welcomed two loving children, Gerald and Sandra, who were the most important part of her existence.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents Jesse and Mabel Green; Sisters Clara "Justine" Derry and Constance "Connie" Bethea; brother James "Jimmy" Green; Daughter Sandra "Denny" McKithen; in-laws Charles Matlock, Robert Matlock Sr., Donald Matlock, Marianne Matlock-Brittingham and Leon "Skip" Thomas.
Sandra's legacy of love, faith and kindness will be missed by many. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband, Gerald Matlock Sr.; son Gerald Matlock Jr (Betty) of New Brunswick, NJ; brother Philip Green (Deborah) of Sicklerville, NJ; son-in-law Kelly Dwain McKithen of Trenton, NJ; grandchildren Anthony, Ciera, and Brysun Matlock, Miracle Bolden, Kali and Kameron McKithen; in-laws Percy Derry, Deborah Matlock, Charlene Bland, Loleta Matlock, Paula Terry (Marion), Ethel Whetstone (Leroy), and Ira Brittingham; best friends Mary (Bowie) Leonard and Bernadine Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1pm Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Greater Mt. Zion AME Church, 34 Pennington Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 12pm until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
