ShaRon Y. Brooks-Allen Obituary

ShaRon Yvonne Brooks-Allen was born on June 3, 1965 to Grafton Brooks and Gazelle Brooks in Philadelphia, PA.

ShaRon attended Pennypacker Elementary School. She graduated from Lankenau High School in 1983 and went on to graduate from The University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice: Pre-Law degree.

Growing up, she aways helped around the house, especially when her younger sister was born. ShaRon was always in a book, dictionary or encyclopedia; and if she wasn’t doing that, she was assisting her father in the operation of his multiple retail stores. Though she was a city girl, the rural area of Heathsville, Virginia was a place of peace, home and family during summer vacations. Her highlights always included her best friends (Jim and Wanda) and other shenanigans she would find herself in with her siblings and cousins. Pagano’s was the spot to be, and where to eat!

She always loved to help people in whatever capacity that was. While on campus, she saw the commitment to greater service, their sisterhood and purpose; and in the summer of 1988, she went on to join the Theta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

In the following years, ShaRon would work at Trenton State College, where she was able to advocate for inclusivity and initiate the first women into the world of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. She would marry Aaron Allen, become a nurturing mother to Kylen & Marcus and a step-mother to Brandon. She was promoted to Assistant Director of Operational Services, a representative of the Association of College Union International and an advisor to the Lambda Pi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, Her health became a major focal point of change. Following her divorce, she went on to lead the “Divorce Care Program”, was baptized and later served as the Deaconess at Central: A Christ-Centered Church. She filled her days talking to loved ones, watching Jeopardy and football ( How about them Eagles! ) and spending time with her new light, Mason. Mason loved his NaNa; from infinity to beyond! Her goofiness and her slight quirkiness will be remembered, and so will that smile that always shined bright!

On March 12, 2024, ShaRon graced the golden stairway to meet the following family members that predeceased her: Grandparents, Robert Brooks, Mamie Brooks, John Olden Daye and Iona Daye; Parents, Robert G. Brooks and Gazelle Daye; Sister, Angela Rooks (Brooks) and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughter, Kylen Johnson; Son, Marcus Allen; Stepson, Brandon Allen and her little best friend and grandson, Mason Shanks. Siblings: Tatanisha Fenning (Kevin) and Robert Williams (Christie); In-laws: Calvin Rooks, Benita Inge, Tyeshia Denson, Shakira Allen and Michelle Flloyd; Nieces and Nephews: Rakiera, Aaron (Marquan), Tyra (Jazzie) Angelica, Makayla, Christina, Lola (Angela), Grafton, Nazir, Kyle, Sierra, Jshon, Deaja, Rahzi, Zion, Brooklyn and Mo’riah. She is also cherished by her two best friends: James (Jim) King and Wanda Johnson; her illustrious organization of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated; H2 Hootie Hoo (The Crew) and a host of loving family, relatives and friends.
