With much love spread and many memories shared, our beloved Shirley accepted her angel's invitation into the kingdom on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Jefferson Hospital in Sewell, New Jersey. As a result, our hearts are less bright, but we know the heavens are filled with extra doses of love, joy, peace, and laughter.
Shirley Jean Brown-Briggs was born on Friday, September 19, 1952, in Princeton, New Jersey to Henry Brown and Eunice Jackson.
She was educated in the Trenton public school system. Shirley was employed as a beautician at several salons, and a teacher and lunch aide at Grant School.
In her leisure time, Shirley loved her make-up; she was a licensed beautician; but most importantly, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. During her illness she was baptized at Corinth Baptist Church in Ewing, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Briggs Jr.; her daughter Miracle Brown-Briggs; a granddaughter Dionna Combs; her sisters Myrtle Brown and Mae Eunice Martinez; her mother Eunice Jackson; her father Henry Brown; an aunt Virginia Moore; an uncle Jesse Jackson; a nephew Anthony Martinez; two nieces La Kesha Brown and Tina Martinez .
Shirley's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her daughter Patricia Brown-Briggs; her sons Thomas Briggs, Ryan Brown Briggs; her sister Doris Ann Jackson; her brother James Brown; two special daughters-in-law Belinda Combs and Tara Seigle; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; a special person Jerry "Fat Man" Thompson, who's like a son; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; a note to Bryce, "Do good in school."
