When someone you Jove becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.
After sixty-nine years of bringing joy and sharing her love Shirley accepted her wings on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at home in Browns Mills, New Jersey surrounded by her loved ones. As a result, our hearts are a little less bright, but the Heavens are filled with extra doses of love ,joy, peace and laughter.
Shirley Ann Tomblin, was born in Beach, Georgia on Thursday, May 29th, 1952 to Lewis James Tomblin and Emma Lee Washington. At the age of 13, she relocated to New Jersey with her family. She graduated from Trenton Central High School in Trenton, New Jersey in 1971.On May 31st, 2013, she retired from Trane/Ingersoll-Rand (Trenton Plant) after 41 years of
dedicated service.
For many years, Shirley was an avid bowler, she also loved going to bingo and occasionally going to Parx: Casino. However, her greatest passion was traveling or 'Glamping" in the RV.
Predeceased in death by her father, Lewis James Tomblin; mother Emma Lee Riley; stepfather Charles Riley Jr.; her siblings, Robert Washington, Wanda Rickerson, Annette Rickerson, Earley Jean Perkins and Althea Riley; mother and father-in-law Floyd Sr. and Annie Grant.
Shirley's memory will be cherished and forever remembered by her loving husband of 44 years, Floyd Grant Jr.; her daughters Michelle Lewis (Lee) of Ahoskie, NC, Lakisha Spakosky (Anthony) of Straiford, NJ, Martika Grant of Browns Mills, NJ and her son, Rasheed Grant (Katrina) of Mt. Laurel, NJ; her sisters Libby Rickerson and Lisa King (Tyrone) of Trenton, NJ; her brother-in- E. Perkins of Trenton, NJ; her grandchildren lmani, Ciara, AJhon, Khadyah, Mariah, Ayelet; her great-grandchildren Mariah, Jayden, Demetric, Aliyah, Alani,
Morgan; a host of nieces, n hews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11am Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
