Thomas Henry Thompson, Jr., 77 of Trenton, NJ, son of the late Thomas Henry Thompson, Sr. and Mercy Thompson, (nee Washington). Thomas departed this life on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University, Hamilton, NJ. He resided at Avalon Rehabilitation and Healthcare from 2022 until his passing. While there, he made lots of friends with the staff who would often bring him peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to snack on throughout the day and night.
Born in Trenton, NJ on February 29, 1948, Thomas was educated in the Trenton Public School District. Thomas' family moved to the Bloomsdale, neighborhood in Levittown, PA in the mid 1950's for a few years and then relocated back to Trenton.
Thomas, affectionately known as "Daddy", Tommy''. "Henry", "Tommy T", "T'Bone", and "Pop Pop", loved wrestling or as he would say, "wrastling", watching Law and Order, eating Honey Combs and Sugar Smacks cereal out of the box, Bugles, Candy Corn, Nestle Crunch and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. His favorite football team was the Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoyed cheeseburgers and the macaroni and cheese during his stays at Robert Wood Johnson. Some things he did not love or even like were butter and anything green or healthy. Most of all, Thomas loved his four girls, and they loved him. He was proud of each and every one of them. He also adored his grandchildren, his nieces and nephews. He was infamous for telling the kids he was going to put the "claw" on them, to the point they would line up to be "clawed". No one was spared from Thomas giving them nicknames.
In the early 1970's, Thomas worked at the Rubber Plan in Roebling, NJ. Later, he worked at Purex in Bristol, PA doing warehouse work for fourteen years. He was an entrepreneur along with his brother "Lucky" who also worked at Purex. Anyone who knew them will have an appreciation for their side hustle. Thomas also worked for Toll Brothers in Trenton, NJ. Due to health issues, Thomas retired shortly thereafter.
Thomas regularly attended the Reading Community Center where he made many friends, played pool and picked up lottery tickets for the seniors.
