Thomas Johnson, III. of West Palm Beach, FL transitioned on December 24, 2020 at the age of 63. Thomas died peacefully in his sleep.
Thomas was born in Sumter, SC on July 28, 1957 to Willie Lee Johnson (nee Bradford) and Thomas Johnson, Jr. He graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1975. That same year, he enlisted in the United States Army and was discharged under honorable conditions in 1976, which was eventually upgraded to an honorable discharge. Thomas attained a certificate in Computers from the South Florida Computer Training Center in 1999. In 2016, he earned a degree in Information Technology Management from Keiser University. At the time of his passing, he was employed at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.
Thomas is survived by six of his seven siblings: Grendolyn (Wendell) Reid, Gregory Johnson, Barry Johnson, Yvette (Kent) Wiggins, Myron Johnson, and Vonda Johnson. He also leaves behind a trove of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Willie Lee Johnson; his father, Thomas Johnson, Jr; and his brother, Orlando Johnson.
Thomas had a wonderful ear for music and languages. For many years he played electric guitar in a variety of music genres- from Classic Rock to Blues to Down Home Gospel. Later, he added the bass guitar to his repertoire, with bass becoming his preferred instrument. Thomas loved working with computers and was fluent in VBA. He was also fluent in Spanish, which he learned during a stint in Mexico. His bilingualism made it easy for him to connect to people from all walks of life. Tommy, as he was affectionately known, touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held on January 12, 2020, from 9:30 to 10:30pm, at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
