Vanessa G. Andrews

Vanessa "Ness" G. Andrews slipped away from us in her sleep on Wednesday, May 6,2026. at the age of 65 in her home in Penns Grove, New Jersey.

Vanessa G. Andrews, also affectionally known as "Ness", "Nessa" "Sissy", "Nanny" “Aunt Ness", and "Mom" by her son, was born in Princeton, New Jersey on January 10,1961, to the late Johnnie B. and Virgina V. Andrews. She was given a son to raise from an infant into adulthood. She also gave love and guidance to other children over the years. She has been a resident of Salem County, New Jersey area for nearly 20 years.

Vanessa attended the Cranbury/Plainsboro School Districts in New Jersey. Her many occupations were being a data entry clerk at RCA, a babysitter, a security guard, and a toil booth collector for the NJ Turnpike for the last past 30 years. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, godmother and mom.

Vanessa was a member of Emmanuel Prayer House of Peace Church in New Jersey all her life, under the tutelage of the Late Pastor Emerita Virginia V. Andrews, now Pastor Lewis A. Bowser. She loved God with her whole heart, while beating her tambourine, singing quartet songs, attending the Tarkington-Sykes Family Reunions, participating in Vacation Bible School, Youth Conventions and Women's Conventions. Vanessa took care of children (especially babies). She also enjoyed eating, (especially ice cream), and helping others in whatever way she could, be it financially or giving of her time, but most of all, she genuinely loved various shades of purple.

Vanessa Andrews was preceded in death by her parents: Johnnie B. & Virginia V. Andrews; a sister Tamara Leigh Andrews; and a nephew Alexander M. Andrews

Vanessa Andrews will be cherished and remembered by her son Marcus Key; her nine siblings: Althea Spruill (James) of Trenton, NJ; Babi Harris (Kenneth) of Ewing, NJ; Eartha Padgett (Richard) of Plainsboro, NJ, Johnnie of Westfield, IN, Anna of Ewing, NJ, Terence of Felton, DE, Erwin (Lorraine) of Plainsboro, NJ, Katie of Trenton, NJ and L. Ramon Andrews of Plainsboro, NJ; bonus sisters: Jessica Davis (Reggie) of Forney, TX, Carolyn Powell of Portsmouth, VA, Evon Foster (Paul) of Hamilton, NJ, Sandra Rawls (Trennis) of Columbia, NC, and Sheila Harrison of Lumberton, NJ. The other children that she gave love and guidance to over the years are Adrian & Allen Andrews, Antonio & DeMarquese "Smurf" Tucker; Godchildren: Elizabeth McClees, Christian, Mason & Madison Sykes, Kristina Tribble; a very special friend: Mr. Rick; a special cousin-nephew: Noah Vickers; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11am Friday, May 29, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Eggerts Crossing, 121 Hillcrest Ave., Lawrence Township, NJ 08648. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
