Viola Christie Obituary

On Tuesday, September l, 2020, our beloved Viola Christie sunset peacefully into the Arms of the Lord. Born in December, 1964 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Charles William Christie and Mamie Kate Christie Baggett, Viola was the middle child of three daughters. She was educated in the Ewing and Trenton School Systems.

Viola worked as a nursing assistant at Princeton Forrestal Village prior to joining the New Jersey State House where she proudly and tirelessly welcomed everyone with a smile and a "happy day" greeting. New Jersey's Former Governor James E. McGreevey gave her the nickname of "Sunshine," McGreevey would say to Viola, "Pray for me Sunshine."

Growing up, Viola enjoyed playing basketball, softball, baseball and volleyball. She was a devoted member of Light of the World Family Church. Viola was ordained as a minister in 2009, devoting her time to the Prison ministry.

Viola had a heart for people. She took the ministry seriously. Her interest was to see souls saved. If one had an ear to listen, Viola used her mouth as a' platform to spread the gospel the gospel of Jesus nor was she afraid to speak up to anyone _ willing to listen. You would often hear Viola say: "I had a big mouth for the world, now I have a big mouth for the Lord!" , Viola was a student of the Word of God. She committed the Word to memory because she knew that God's Word would sanctify by the truth (John 17: 17). Viola simply loved the Word of God. She didn't mind stopping what she was doing to goto the throne of God, interceding for anyone in need, even if they didn't know they needed it. At the end of her prayers - sometimes during - with her uniquely God given voice, Viola would belt out a song that ministered to her heart. She would sing herself happy as well as those around her. Viola was like a modem-day Jeremiah! She had the fire of God shut up in her bones! She enjoyed sending daily encouraging scriptures to family and friends.
