Viola Floyd

Viola Floyd 93 lovingly known as “Pete or Aunt Pete”, transitioned into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 12, 2021. Born January 31, 1928 in Henderson County, North Carolina, Viola was educated in the Trenton Public School District and was a part of the Trenton Central High School’s Graduating Class of 1946. She was employed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Law & Public Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles from which she retired after 35 years of service. Viola was very family oriented and routinely spent time with her siblings, aunts and cousins, never missing a family gathering or event.

 

Viola was a very compassionate woman who faithfully attended Second Baptist Church in Burlington, NJ and later became a member of Union Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ. She served in many ministries some of which included Prison, Kitchen, Hospice, Nursing Home and Elderly service ministries. Viola was an avid walker when she lived in Trenton and would often be seen walking down West and East State Streets going to work. She also spent time looking for bargains at the Red, White and Blue and other Thrift Stores. Viola enjoyed studying the Bible every chance she had and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen.

 

Viola was predeceased by her parents; her loving brother Harvey Goolsby; loving sister’s Sarah Montgomery-Dixon and Ethel “Essie’ Lythcott.

 

Viola leaves to cherish her memories, son Duane Floyd, daughter-in-law Constance of Trenton, one sister Barbara Richards of Mount Holly, one grandson Daniel Floyd, two step-grandchildren Janessa Jones and Janaye Jones of Burlington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Viewing Hours will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618. Followed by a Graveside Service at 11:00 am at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, 545 Eggert Crossing Road, Ewing, NJ 08638.
