Virginia Turner Obituary

Virginia Hendryx Turner, daughter of the late Ona Lee and Addison Bernard Hendryx, was born on April 20, 1938 in Sylvania (Screven County), Georgia. Her family moved to Trenton when Ginny was a young child and she remained a resident of the Trenton vicinity for over 70 years. She was a graduate of the Trenton Public School System and attended Mercer County Community College.

Virginia was a member of Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church for more than 60 years. During her years of worship at Grant, she served with the Sunday School, Youth Choir, Adult Choirs, the Usher, Nurse and Missionary Ministries. She was also a Women’s Day and Church Anniversary Chairperson. She later joined membership with Ujima Village Christian Church and Shiloh Baptist Church where she served with the Usher Ministry, then returned to her roots at Grant Chapel in recent years.

Virginia was previously employed for 17 years at North Princeton Development (Skillman),United Progress, Inc., and retired from Trenton Central High School where she was employed as
a secretary for many years.

Following her retirement, she began her catering business and excelled in her preparation and presentation of delicious meals and desserts that were served at wedding receptions, dinner
parties and office luncheons. Whether she was feeding 20 people or 200, Ginny made sure everyone received her warm and gracious attention. In addition to her catering business,
Virginia frequently visited many sick and shut-ins around the city "just to drop off a meal". Her praises to the Lord and love for mankind were frequently expressed as she went about the City of Trenton quietly feeding the hungry.

Virginia Hendryx Turner departed this life on Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ernest Turner and two brothers, Addison and Cortez Hendryx.
