Wayne Snead Obituary

Wayne Fernando Snead, son of Marjorie B. Snead and Raymond Richardson, was born May 12, 1954, in Trenton, N.J. He departed this life on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, 11:31 a.m. amongst his family and closest friends at Capital Health Hospital Hopewell. 
 

In 1973, Wayne graduated from Trenton Central High School. He went on to complete his Bachelors of Science in History from Trenton State College in 1988 and would eventually obtain his Master of Education from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in 2004. 
 

Wayne was a hardworking man and dedicated to supporting his family. He spent nearly 30 years with the State of New Jersey, Department of Labor and Workforce retiring as a Senior Investigator. Throughout his professional career, he also held roles with the New Jersey Association on Corrections and SERV Centers of New Jersey. In his later career, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming an educator and mentor through is work as an elementary school teacher with Trenton Public Schools District, and as a tennis coach with National Junior Tennis and Learning of Trenton. 
 

Wayne had a passion for performing. He first fell in love with acting whilst at Trenton State College upon introduction to theatre by his professor Don Evans. Wayne became heavily involved in the Players' Company of Trenton productions and would go on to perform with Mill Hill Playhouse and others. Many will recall Wayne singing with the Department of Labor, Shiloh Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church Choirs. The Church choir enabled Wayne to serve faithfully until his passing. 
 

Wayne leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Janet Alverio-Snead; his four children, Shawnn Edwards, Tatiana Snead, Gabriella Snead and Fernanda Snead; five grandchildren Teylor Parks, Shawnn Edwards Jr., a Edwards, Camren Edwards, and Jachai Genovay; two siblings, Marco Snead and Toni Cooper; several and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends from all walks of life including school, sports, work. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. 

 

 A Memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, October 24, 2025 at Friendship Baptist Church,111 Perry St, Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hour will be 10am until the time of service.  Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Ceremony will be at 10:30am. Interment will be private.
