A Celebration Of Life For DEACON WILLIAM "IRVING" PATTERSON
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we celebrate the 1ite and legacy of Deacon William Irving Patterson, lovingly known as "Irving" and "Billy." Born on November 3, 1959, in Trenton, New Jersey, to the late Prince and Sarah Patterson, Sr., his le reflected faith, devotion, and unwavering love for God, family, and community, Irving was educated in the Trenton Public School System and attended Mercer County Community College. He was employed with the NJ Business & Industry Association, serving faithfully until retirement with integrity and dedication.
A devoted servant of the 1ord, Irving's spiritual journey began at Jerusalem Baptist Church under the late Rev. Foster and continued through E Bethel Baptist Church, Love Temple, and ultimately Temple of Praise Sanctuary in Trenton, New Jersey, under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Henderson. As a Deacon, he exemplified humility, service, and a deep reverence for God.
He shared his gift of worship through gospel choirs including Craig Hayes and the United Voices, Anthony Booker and the Ministry of Praise Power, and the Soul Seekers, touching many with his voice and spirit.
Irving found joy in Sunday morning worship, Bible study, The Lucille Ball Show, and time spent with loved ones. His warm smile and gentle spirit left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Prince and Sarah Patterson, Sr.; his grandparents, Charles and Johanna Jones, and Virgil and Fannie Patterson, six siblings; Prince Patterson, Jr., Bertha Luma, Fannie Carey, Irene Flagg, Jule and Zannie Marsh; godparents, Clifford and Leola Askew; and one bonus son, Shannon Ellis.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Conyea and Clashel Patterson, and Sha'Ron Henderson; two grandsons, William Alex Patterson and Tazai Oden; three sisters, Carolyn Jones, Joann (Brincton) Ricks, and Shelia Patterson; two brothers, Julius Marsb and Melvin Patterson; one caring aunt, Marie Williams; a special sister-in-law, Cheryl Patterson; a sister-cousin, Ellen Jones, three dear friends, Margo Perry, Vershone Turner, and David Tobin , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, and friends.
We are grateful for a life lived in faith, love, and service. "Well done thy good and faithful servant."
Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, May 8, 2026 at New Holy Cross Church of Christ, 500 E. State St., Trenton, NJ 08609. Calling hour will be 11am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
