Willie J. Sturgis

Willie James Sturgis "Dilly", 64. of Trenton, New Jersey. passed Jo peacefully on Friday, March 20. 2026. at 7:58 a.m. in Trenton, New Jersey made Trenton his home, where he was raised and educated through the He was born on Saturday, August 26, 1961, in Fort Myers, Florida, and a Trenton Public School System.

Willie was a devoted and hardworking man who dedicated 15 years of service technology and furthered his education, graduating from Lincoln Technica to Unisys. After his time in the workforce, he pursued his passion for Institute in 2013 with a focus in Information Technology.

A man of strong faith, Willie loved the Lord deeply and carried that faith with him throughout his life. He was especially known for his incredible voice he could truly sing-and brought joy to those around him through music, laughter, and his warm spirit.

Willie was also the founder of Black Men of Promise, a community- driven movement dedicated to uplifting those in need. Through this work, he gave back selflessly by providing warm meals and clothing to the homeless, organizing back-to-school drives, and extending compassion and support throughout the community. His leadership, generosity, and commitment to service left a lasting impact on countless lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna (Turner) Bodiford and Eddie G. Sturgis Sr.; his sister Gloria Sturgis; his brother, Eiddie Sturgis Jr.; and his grandmother, Ruth Mae Griffin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving siblings. Carolyn Stepfone Washington, Arthur Young, Fred Sturgis, Reggie Sturgis and Geneva Sturgis He is also survived by a host of aunts uncles nieces, nephews extended family., and his cherished godchildren: Andre Eutsey, Terry (Tr) Johnson, Titus Tard, and Felicia Brittingham.

Willie also held a deep and special love for all of his god-grandchildren, who brought him immense Joy and pride: Qwary. Holland, Memphis Bellaire, Jeremiah, Moi-Moi, and Zechariah London Sun, Savannah. 

Willie will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his powerful voice, his generosity, and the love he gave so freely.

His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be 11am Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ 08618.  Calling hour will be 10am until time of service at the church. Interment will be at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing, NJ.
