Willie Henry Smith was born on January 8, 1928, to the late Jim and Ellen Smith. On April 28, 2022, Willie departed this life at home surrounded by family at the age of 94.
Born in Cuthbert, Georgia, Willie was a resident of Trenton, NJ for over 60 years. He went to Randolph Clay High School. Willie was previously employed at Shine Meat Company in
Perth Amboy as a factory worker. After over 25 years of dedicated service, he retired and enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He later decided to go back to work at Wonder Chemical for about 10 years.
Willie was a man of integrity and honor. He was loved and he gave love to all. He was devoted to his wife and his family. Willie was the reflection of strength. Not just in the physical but mentally as well. He worked hard to provide for his family. In his early years, Willie was the champ of Shuffleboard. he was very skilled in the game and was well known and respected in his community. Willie's life has been full and the legacy he leaves behind will continue in his honor.
In addition to his parents, Willie was predeceased by his wife, Josie B. Smith; two sisters and seven brothers; a grandson, Terrance Frances; and a son-in-law, Jesse Bruton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories: four sons, Will H. Smith, Jr., Marc W. Smith, David (Ruby) Smith of Trenton, NJ, and William Gay of GA; three daughters, Jane E. Bruton of
PA, Darlene Smith of Trenton, NJ, and Stacey Smith of Trenton, NJ; eleven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. "
Funeral service will be 11am Monday, May 9, 2022 at Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 9am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
