Yvette S. Lewis Obituary

Yvette Sharon Lewis, 69; was born on November 22, 1955 in Trenton, NJ to Vernell and Thelma Martin (Watkins) departed this world on June 3, 2025. Yvette was a beacon of strength and love, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

Throughout her life, Yvette was a dedicated and nurturing mother grandmother, always prioritizing the well-being and happiness of her family.

A proud graduate of Trenton Central High School in 1973, Yvette furthered her education at Trenton State College and Mercer County Community College, laying a foundation for her impressive career. With over 25 years of service in the Department of Corrections, Yvette was committed to making a difference in her community. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to successfully own several businesses, showcasing her talent for leadership and innovation.

Yvette was deeply proud of her Jamaican heritage, which influenced her vibrant personality and love for culture. She had a great passion for dancing, listening to music, and socializing with friends and family. Her lively spirit and sense of style were truly unmatched. Known for her extravagant flair and infectious laughter, Yvette brought joy to every gathering she attended.

Described as loyal, caring, fun-loving, and compassionate, Yvette had a unique ability to uplift those around her. She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but also for her nurturing heart and the countless lives she touched.

Yvette was predeceased by her parents Vernell Martin and Thelma Martin. She is survived by her loving children Darryl Lewis and Ebony Lewis Turner, as well as her four beloved grandchildren: Amir, Anaiah, Alani, and Talijah (TJ), a sister Marjorie Ellis, bonus children Ogbonna Price, Dwayne Latimer, Gina Latimer, goddaughter Jennifer Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

As we celebrate the life of Yvette S. Lewis, we find comfort in our shared memories and the love she infinitely gave. She will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.

 

Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, June 13, 2025 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 735 E. State St., Trenton, NJ 08609. Calling hours will be 10am until the time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
